Vote For Smockity!

Stumble Upon Toolbar

I have been nominated for Funniest Homeschool Blog and I would be tickled pink if y'all would vote for me.

I normally don't think anyone should be judged by their fashion choices or the taste of their chicken spaghetti, but there are prizes involved, so I am all over this like white on rice!

Go! Fight! Win! Vote for Smockity!

I told MaddieLynn this morning that some lady name Pioneer Something Or Another was also in the running and her immediate reaction was, "Oh no!"

Never fear though, my nine year old said, "You'll for sure beat her, Mommy!"

That's the kind of confidence I like.

Blind, irrational confidence.

Now, head on over to the Homeschool Blog Awards and vote for all your favorites.

Homeschool Blog Awards

Stumble Upon Toolbar

It is time to nominate your favorite homeschool blogs for the Homeschool Blog Awards. Just click on the link to get to the nomination page.

You can nominate as many or as few blogs as you like.

Unfortunately, there is no "I'm Not Sure What This Blog is About, and Frankly, Sometimes She Scares Me, But I Think She Homeschools" category, but if there were, I'm pretty sure I'd have that one wrapped up.

Nominations close on October 30, so don't tarry!

Who Can Leap Dangling Participles In a Single Bound?

Stumble Upon Toolbar

I'll bet y'all didn't know that I have super blogging powers. That's right. Nikki gave me this award, so it must be true.

And for the record, I have no idea whether my participles dangle or not. I certainly hope they don't, because, frankly it sounds extremely uncomfortable. Not to mention quite unladylike.

And if there's anything I am, it is ladylike and anyone who says different can do a whole extra page of long division problems, you hear me, kids?

In any case, I would like to pass this award on to Holly at Seeking Faithfulness and Jaynee at The Lockwoods. Both of these ladies are super at making me want to be a better Mama. They both share so many super tips on home keeping and child rearing, all the while with super sweet attitudes. That makes them super in my book!

And finally, I'd like to present The Super Blogger Award to Harmony and Junk Male at Thou and Thou Only. They do a super job at making their blog look fabulous while keeping it updated with interesting discussions.

Thanks, Nikki, for honoring me with this super award!

Stumble Upon Toolbar

Holly at Seeking Faithfulness has passed this award to me.

Thank you so much, Holly. I wish I could think of as many uplifting and encouraging things to write about as you do. I figure I'll just keep linking to you every few days, though, and that will encourage us all!

Smile!

Stumble Upon Toolbar

Barbara at Finding Contentment has just honored me with another award. Thank you, Barbara! (And don't you love the name of her blog? Yes, sometimes we have to actively search to find contentment. Don't we?)

I'm so glad that I make someone smile. Most of the time I feel like I make people stare. Like when I'm at WalMart and I read the expression on a shopper's face that is something like, "I know this is weird, but that lady looks distinctly pregnant, and yet, there are 6 children following her around calling her Mommy! Naaaah....must be a tumor."

Isn't it amazing? I can know people's thoughts just from the looks on their faces. It's a gift, really.

Anyway, I spent 2 or 3 whole seconds clicking around, looking for the rules of this award, because if you know me at all, then you know I am a rule following gal. I mean a come-to-a-complete-stop/read-all-the-directions-before-assembly type. But, I didn't see any. Sooooo, being also the lazy type, I am not going to pass this on.

That's right I'm keeping it all for myself. Bwahahahahahaha! It's mine, all mine!

We Are Rockin' Girl Bloggers!

Stumble Upon Toolbar

Nikki tagged us for the Rockin' Girl Blogger award! Woohoo! Now, I'm going to tag a blog I like to read, and it is..............

Kittykait at 7 Silly Southern Sisters!

Kittykait is about my age, which is 12, and her blog is about rabbits, tarantulas, praying mantids, and other stuff. (Maybe y'all have figured out that I like bugs.) She also breeds Holland Lop and Mini Lop rabbits. Holland Lop rabbits are my favorite breed! She is the second oldest of seven sisters (who breed rabbits and gerbils) and one baby brother.

Thanks for tagging us, Nikki!

Blogger Reflection Award

Stumble Upon Toolbar

Holly at Seeking Faithfulness has honored me as one of the recipients of The Blogger Reflection Award. Here is a description of the purpose of the award:

The reason for the title is because this award should make you reflect on five bloggers who have been an encouragement, a source of love, impacted you in some way, and have been a Godly example to you. Five bloggers who when you reflect on them you get a sense of pride and joy… of knowing them and being blessed by them.

These are the 5 bloggers I would like to honor with this award:

Deputy Headmistress at the Common Room - She is such a source of encouragement for me. Hers is the first blog I check on each day, and it seems that she always has some tidbit of information that I can put into practical use. She often says so brilliantly what tumbles around in my own brain. I appreciate her real life, down to earth examples of a family doing its best to fulfill the teachings of Jesus.

Barbara Curtis at Mommy Life - Barbara was one of the first to encourage me to start a blog. Her writing always makes me want to try harder, be more and give more of myself than I ever thought I could to a cause greater than myself - my children. In these days when women are encouraged to pamper themselves and think of themselves first, her blog is a breath of fresh air.

Amy at Amy's Humble Musings - Amy's blog was the very first blog that I stumbled upon when I didn't even know what a blog was. I have been hooked on her honesty in her struggles with everything from pregnancy sickness to life with lots of littles. She always includes God's word in her posts and stresses what's right even when it isn't what's easy.

Carmon at Buried Treasure - I love to read Carmon's words of wisdom from a Mamma who has been there and done that. She has many insights into homeschooling, raising children, and even politics that make me think about what I believe and why I believe it.

Crystal at Biblical Womanhood - I enjoy reading Crystal's boldness in proclaiming her beliefs, and I appreciate her humility and willingness to open up discussions where she admits that she may not know the answer.

Here are the rules for passing the award on:

1. Copy this post.

2. Replace my bloggers with yours & reflect on five bloggers and write a least a paragraph about each one.

3. Make sure you link this post so others can read it and the rules.

4. Go leave your chosen bloggers a comment and let them know they’ve been given the award.

5. Put the award icon on your site.

I Got an Award!!

Stumble Upon Toolbar

I have been chosen for the Thinking Blogger award!! I would like to thank everyone who voted for me. OK, no one actually voted for me, but Revee at Country Roads chose me! Thank you, Revee, for overlooking my...um... creative punctuation and run on sentences and ramblings about Silly Putty. There's one thing I've been wondering, Revee. (There I go thinking again!) Why is your domain name "Older than the Cheese"? I'm sure there's a story there that I can't wait to hear!

This award is a type of tag. It is called '5 Blogs That Make Me Think' and I am tagging the following bloggers:

  • Kim at Life in a Shoe. I love to read about her adventures with 7 8 children (Oops. Sorry, Kim.) She makes me think about joyful parenting.
  • Laura at A Patchwork of Blessed Moments. She is also a mom of many with 2 foster children that she and her husband are waiting to adopt. She makes me think of laying down my life for others and living an intentionally sacrificial life.
  • Jenefer at Jeneric Jeneralities. This lady cracks. Me. Up. She makes me think that I love to laugh while doing my best to glorify my King.
  • Michele at A Hopeful Hollar. Sometimes I kid her that she thinks too much. She is determined to hold every thought captive to Christ. She is taking a blogging break right now, but recently told me that she has some posts rolling around in that brain of hers. Maybe if everyone leaves her a comment, she'll post some more of her thoughts.
  • Bethanie at The Desire of My Heart. My young friend is only 25 years old, but already so wise about honoring her husband and submitting to his authority. She makes me think I wish I had heeded those Biblical teachings when I was 25!

Congratulations, you won A Thinking Blogger Award! Should you choose to participate, please make sure you pass this list of rules to the blogs you are tagging. I thought it would be appropriate to include them with the meme. The participation rules are simple:

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme.
3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote.
