I know y'all have been on pins and needles, biting your fingernails, wondering what happened with my new washer that broke down after 3 weeks. If you are dying to know what in the world I am talking about, read Part I, Part II, and Part III for all the riveting details.
All done? Good. So here's the skinny:
We bought our washer, a Kenmore Elite Oasis Cavern Capacity, from a locally owned Sears Appliance store because my husband, being a small business owner himself, likes to support our local economy instead of driving to a larger city an hour away.
It turns out, though, that Sears refers all customer complaints to a toll free "One Source" number. With a name like that, you'd think that all of your problems could be solved with that "One Source" right? Well, if you are a naive, sheltered housewife you would think that, until you find out that there is a different department for warranties, and a different department for scheduling appointments, and a different department for ordering parts, and are you beginning to think that "One Source" doesn't accurately describe what we are dealing with here?
To make a loooooong story short, we found out from the owner of our local store (not "One Source" - imagine that!) that the extended warranty we bought would pay for a rental washer while ours was waiting to be repaired. Of course, we didn't find this out until, oh, I don't know, 7 or 8 days into having no washer. The owner apologized for the inconvenience and confusion and had a used washer that he had in storage delivered to our house while we waited for our new one to come in so that we could have some clean clothes and stop grossing out our friends by bringing our dirty underthings over to their house. (Thanks, Lindsey!)
He also arranged for "One Source" to send us $80, which we received promptly, for the trouble we went through.
Our new washer has been installed and we are happily washing away. I hope this one won't give us any problems, but if it does, I feel good knowing that the owner of the local store is willing to work with us to solve any problems.

anytime. :) glad you finally got it all worked out and that you were pleased with the owner. we bought our fridge there so that's nice to hear that he's willing to help!
I had a suspicion that you bought your washing machine from Sears. Our new front loading washer leaked all over the floor weeks after bringing home our 5th child. After months of numerous phone calls and repairs, I worked my way up to the V.P. of some department and got a new one. When the technician came to give our broken machine a last look and found out that I had 5 children he said, "Five kids! No wonder you're high strung!" ARGHHHH! It was a horrible experience and we have sworn off buying any appliance from there!
I'm so happy to know that all the wash is well again. I'm also SURE everyone is glad that chore back to thier daily dities! :-)
OOPS! It was suposed to read- I'm also SURE everyone is glad to add that chore back to their duties!---
:-(
Wow. What a struggle! I'm so glad things are finally working out! A mega mommy without her washer is just....in trouble!
As I suspected..A sears machine. However, it sounds like you did finally get them to take care of you. I hope it all works out in the end.
