I Don't Like To Brag.....

Stumble Upon Toolbar

...but have I told y'all how wonderful my MaddieLynn is?

She overheard me wishing that I had some fluffy pink slippers to take to the hospital to wear with my pretty pink robe that I have packed. I was lamenting that the only slippers I have are my old, dingy, yellow ones and I felt like I needed some new ones. Because there really is no excuse for not being color coordinated. Is there, ladies?

My husband, ever the pragmatist, assured me that I didn't need any new slippers under my hospital bed in order for me to deliver a baby. Dingy, yellow or fluffy, pink. The outcome would most likely be that the baby would come into the world the way all of our others have.

Anyway, MaddieLynn talked her Grandad, who was visiting for Thanksgiving, into taking her to WalMart under the pretense of buying some earthworms to feed to her salamander. She knows that if she is going to do something as creepy as feeding worms to a salamander, then she is going to have to use her own money, because we don't give financial support to that kind of activity. ::shudder::

We never just give our children money, but she earns it through various jobs. She puppy sits for neighbors when they go out of town, once she had a thriving homemade cookie business, and she sets her alarm for 6:30 every morning to go to work with my husband where she makes coffee, parks golf carts, and runs paperwork to the main office.

So, she took her own money, and guess what she came back with?
Well, yeah, some slimy earthworms. But, guess what else?

Some brand new fluffy pink slippers!!
Is that girl the greatest 12 year old on the planet, or what?!?!

On second thought, I do like to brag!

She is such a sweetheart! And you can always count on grandparents to do that kind of thing for ya. Mine still do. :)

They're beautiful! She did a good job picking them out. :)

Awww. That is too sweet! She wanted her mommy to feel pretty! I've been checking in for baby updates. And it snowed, huh? LOL!! I'm afraid I would have been jumping up and down, too!! We don't see that very often in Mississippi. Take care and rock those house shoes!!

So glorious! And I'd like to place an offer to adopt MaddieLynn. I could use a girl like her around here. I can guarantee lots of snow will be accumulating here. Or rather, has already.

I just recently found your blog. I am pregnant, too, due in 2 weeks and on partial bedrest. I laughed outloud at your hubby's comment about the slippers...does he know my hubby? "Won't socks or flip-flops work?" :) It's a girl thing! And so glad your girl understood her mommy so well! How sweet!
