Freezer Paper

Stumble Upon Toolbar

**Updated** Find freezer paper in the grocery store on the aisle with aluminum foil and plastic wrap.

I first found out how versatile freezer paper was when I used it on this embroidery project. It adheres to fabric when ironed on, so it makes a great stabilizer.

Whenever I have a craft project for the children, I often tape freezer paper onto the table first. It is great for when markers are being used because the waxy side prevents the color from bleeding through to the table top.

I use it when we color Easter eggs to keep the dye off of the table, and when we make gingerbread houses.

I also put it down when we are making our own pizza or salt water taffy. When we are all done, the clean up is a snap. I just gather up the paper and toss it into the trash.

It can also be used to draw on, like in the photo below, when I used it to draw a neighborhood.

That's what Works for Me this week. Check out Rocks In My Dryer for more great tips.

Great ideas! We just usually use it for no bake cookies, but will try it for coloring projects and sewing too!

BTW, I have been reading your blog for awhile now. Our babies are close to the same age (mine was born 11/07), and while I do not have a large family, I grew up in one and can relate to a lot that you say!

Where do you get freezer paper?

Ha Ha! I was talking about the embroidery project on my site as well! I referenced Pleasant View Schoolhouse because Anna recently made some more t-shirts and I could easily find hers...but I was thinking of your project as well!!! I'll go put the link up in my comment section.

Mamabug, I forgot to say that you can get it at the grocery store on the aisle with aluminum foil and plastic wrap.

Thanks, Andrea and Holly!

Kara, It's not the same as parchment paper. It's much heavier. I remember our meat being wrapped in it when I was a child, but we butchered our own, so I'm not sure if the grocery store butchers used it...

Julie, I'm sure I messed up the link. I was fiddling around with it last week. I'll try to get it straightened out. Thanks for the heads up.

Those are great ideas! I've been meaning to get some freezer paper to try out those stencils I've been seeing across the web.
