Just Wondering

Stumble Upon Toolbar

Why is it......?

1. that Moms are expected to have the following in their purses at all times, lest they be found not meeting the Mom Preparedness Code:

  • nail clippers
  • Kleenex
  • scissors
  • tape
  • pliers (Yes, this was actually requested of me! I won't say who requested it, but you know who you are MaddieLynn!)
  • Bandaids
  • crayons
  • glue
  • paper
  • lotion
  • Chapstick
  • diapers and wipes (Okay, this one is a given.)
  • tweezers
  • safety pins
  • flashlight
  • something to eat
  • addresses and phone numbers of anyone you have ever met
  • envelopes
  • stamps

2. that someone inevitably tries to hand me something when I am already holding:

  • a very large purse (See #1 above.)
  • a sleeping baby
  • a Bible
  • 13 various Bible class papers and lion masks, complete with yarn manes
  • a casserole dish
  • a baby shower gift

Very good question you pose there. I would also like to know why it is Mom's responsibility to gather up all of those items from that very large purse that have been scattered down the length of the pew, not forgetting to check the floor for what may have escaped, even though she spent most of the service in the nursery with the baby, and, oh yeah, gather all this up while holding the baby. But I'm not keeping score or anything... I'm just sayin'. ;)

Oh yes. I've been there. Husband has learned to run a load of stuff out to the car in between Bible class and church. It makes a huge difference!!!

That, and ignoring your children as if they weren't yours when they try to hand you stuff. :)

My daugther is always handing me stuff to carry for her...no matter how full my hands are. One time I was in a store and she put something in my hand, I finished looking around and walked out and down the mall a ways before I realized that she had handed me a candy bar she wanted! Yikes! Back to the store we went!

I agree...Yesterday I left the service about 2 minutes early so I could gather diaper bags, papers, Bibles, and anything else that needed to go to the car. That way after church I was able to gather children and actually have a conversation or two.
