4 Dresses for $11.86

Stumble Upon Toolbar

My mom visited us for the Fourth of July, and she brought several boxes of old patterns with her. Some of them were clothes her own mother had sewn for her when she was a girl and some were patterns she used to sew clothes for my sisters and me.

Here is one she brought that I have always loved. It is super simple. Only three pieces in all - and it's reversible, so you get 2 outfits in one! (Here is some fabric waiting to be cut and sewn. This dress can be worn with the green side out or the pink side.)

I used some fabric I had left over from another project to make the first dress (not shown here) and immediately knew I would want to make more, so I ran to Wal Mart lived the longest day of my life in a Super Center and got the materials to make two more dresses. I only spent $11.86 on fabric and all the notions, and since the dresses are reversible, I will have 4 outfits for that price.

This one can also be worn with a blue side showing to complement the blue in the bloomers. (Click the picture to enlarge.)

See more of my frugal sewing tips, and then go to Biblical Womanhood to see how others are being frugal this week.

This is amazing! As the mother of three boys I never got to do any of these types of things, but I sure enjoyed seeing the adorable dresses on your blog! Thanks for sharing.

How do you find the time to sew all these beautiful things and then blog about them?

You do absolutely gorgeous work!

Michelle

Oh my gosh! Those are SO adorable!! I will have to keep my eye open for cute, frugal patterns and ideas like that. I do not know how to sew at this point but I am looking forward to learning this fall after DH and I move into our new home. I love your blog - always so cute, keep the things coming!

I LOVE these style dresses. My mother is the sewer in the family so when (not if) we have a girl, I know she will make them for me. Thanks for showing. They are beautiful!

I was going to ask you to give me sewing lessons if we hadn't have moved. I guess I would have been camping at your house a lot between that and blog lessons!!
I DO have a sewing machine now so that's a start!
