Snoozing and Losing

Stumble Upon Toolbar

I have been known to tell my children, "You snooze, you lose." I usually add "in the big city". I have no idea why I add that last part because we don't live anywhere near a big city, but I think it adds a little punch, and I'm all about adding punch.

I have no idea what that means, but apparently I say many random things for no reason.

Moving on.

Whenever someone misses out on an opportunity because of hesitation, I'll say, "You snooze, you lose." If, say, I am baking and ask for help in the kitchen, I usually let the helper lick the bowl. If someone wanders into the kitchen and comments that they didn't get to lick any icing, I'll say, "You snooze, you lose."

"In the big city."

Because I'm all about adding punch.

So.

Remember when I told you about the lady at church offering to give me all of her sewing supplies that she wouldn't be using anymore? I was excited to get loads of zippers, buttons, bias tape, and other sewing basics, but I kept thinking that I needed to clean out my closet before I picked them up so I would be able to put it all away.

I finally decided I'd better just go ahead and make the pick up because the closet wasn't cooperating with me and cleaning itself out like I kept commanding it to, so I called about the sewing supplies yesterday. I had to leave a message because there was no answer.

As it turns out, there was a very good reason no one picked up the phone. The lady from church was busy having a garage sale. She called me last night and told me that since I hadn't called her back, she figured I didn't really want the sewing supplies, and she sold all of them in her garage sale. She said they went like hot cakes.

You snooze, you lose.

In the big city. And elsewhere, it turns out.
