We're Baaaaaaack!

Well, we made it back in good shape and we all had a wonderful time. You'll be glad to know that we only lost our five year old once at Silver Dollar City. We found her crying, and after many tears and strong words, she is determined never to let go of my hand as long as she lives.

On our journey, we discovered that if you want to test your character and see what you're made of, then you should pile six children in a Suburban that is already loaded with 4 car seats, a double stroller, a pack and play, 2 large suitcases, and overnight bag, a cooler, and lots of crayons. Then, get on the road for a ten hour trip. Each way. You just might find out that you don't have as much patience as you thought, and you need to work on that.

We also found that we are not so much the Stand In Long Lines With a Fistful of Cash types as much as we are the Enjoy Nature at Our Leisure For Free types. It was interesting to see how beautiful the land was in the Ozarks, yet everywhere we looked, we saw people waiting in long lines to pay money to get onto or into a man made contraption to be whirled, twirled, and entertained.

We all agreed that our favorite time was spent at Moonshine Beach. (We had simply googled "free or cheap activities in Branson, MO.") It cost us 50 cents each for admittance, and the children spent hours swimming, splashing, diving, running, looking for shells, and playing with a frog. No one waited in a single line, handed anyone a ticket or cash, or looked at a watch to see when a show was scheduled to begin.

We are glad to be back home, and I was tickled pink to see how many of you signed my guest book in the post below. Thank you!

We are preparing now to host 3 separate rounds of visitors in July. We have lots of wonderful family and friends who like to drive long distances to stay with us and sing, laugh, and eat together. We aren't sure why they like to do this since our house is noisy and chaotic and times, but we sure are glad they keep coming.

So, now I'm off to plan menus, shop for groceries, and do laundry, laundry, and more laundry.

Check out Biblical Womanhood for some great frugal tips.

You are a lady after my own heart. That is what I do when we are planning a vacation too. Glad you all had such a wonderful time and that it was a safe journey.

Simple and helpful idea. I'll just have to hope that I don't get too busy to Google before we leave out!

I love the picture, too. You look so carefree and relaxed. Such a sweet family. And not to sound shallow, but that's just the cutest top you're wearing! : )
