Road Trip

Stumble Upon Toolbar

We are getting ready to go on a road trip to Branson, Missouri to meet up with my husband's family for a celebration of his parents' 50th wedding anniversary.

His parents are buying everyone's tickets to Silver Dollar City. We've never been, but we are looking forward to it. We also heard about a fish hatchery where the admission is free, so we are planning to go there one day.

Other than that, does anyone have any suggestions for fun activities? Our family really likes cheap, and free is even better! Any other ideas anyone has will be appreciated. Please, leave a comment and tell us what you have enjoyed in Branson.

Hi there~ I have a friend who lives around there in Missouri, and she has visited where Laura Ingalls Wilder lived, and also is buried! Not sure how close you will be to it, but it sounds like a neat trip!

I've never been to Branson City, so, unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions. However, I wanted to say Congratulations to your in-laws on 50 years of marriage!

My parents are going there for their anniversary too. Sorry, I don't have any cheap tips. Branson just isn't a cheap place.

Just happened upon your blog tonite and couldn't resist replying to this. We got back from a trip to Branson a few weeks ago.
"The Shepherd of The Hills" outdoor drama is excellent. I'd recommend going for all day...just taking your time around the shops, letting the kids play on their free playground there (they have an awesome 'zip line' that's fun) and just relaxing. The evening drama does last later than most young kids' bedtime....but it's worth it. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you can go back the next night for $4/person - which is neat if you really enjoy the story.

McFarlens resturant in the IMAX center is a good "breakfast" place.

The Laura Ingalls Wilder museum/homeplace where she wrote the books is in Mansfield, Missouri - and we enjoyed it as well. On the way there, tho, you need to check out LAMBERT'S cafe...in Ozark, Missouri - right below Springfield. It is SO worth the money - the prices are not too bad (our family of 5 ate for around $40) and they bring you TONS of food.....and specialize in throwing hot rolls across the room to your table! You'll leave full and satisfied that you got more than you even hoped for. While you're there, walk across the road to the little candle shop....they have a "seconds" room where you can get some great buys on candles.

Hope you have a great time!
