Children's Church

Stumble Upon Toolbar

Have you seen the latest topic started over there in my pink Blog Frog box in my right sidebar?

Wendy wants to know if anyone has ideas for coordinating children's church.

Since we keep our children with us in the adult worship service, I can't be of much help, but maybe you have some ideas you'd like to add.

Smockity,

Could you write an article about keeping your children in church? My hubby and I would like to do so with our six month old, but we haven't figured out HOW. Any tips? What do you do with 2 and 3 year-olds?

I recently heard something about starting a children's church on the bott radio network.

We have an 18 month old & a 6 year old. Our church has a "cry room," though we try not to use it. When our 6yo was a toddler & preschooler, we had a "Go Bag" that we kept for him. It was a small bag of quiet toys & activities (simple puzzles, coloring books, hotwheels cars, etc.) that he ONLY got to play with at church. I also always packed a snack & drink for him, which I usually saved for only when I really needed to pull it out.

I'm with Stephanie, though , Smockity. Our 18 month old is an exact opposite of our older son. We call him the Wild Thing, and for good reason. We have been absent from church for a few months, but I'm not sure that my bag of tricks is going to work with him when we do return. Have you got any advise for keeping a crazy little one quiet during church?

Stephanie and Keowdie,
Here is a blog post I wrote a while back about what we do with our kids in church.

You can check out sundayschoolteachersnetwork.com for some great ideas. I use them on Wednesday nights for our Youth Group that we just started. It is geared for K-5 and they have lessons, crafts and yummy devotions (FOOD!).
