Magnetic Photo Bookmarks

Stumble Upon Toolbar

My mother has always been a creative soul.

I remember getting hand made doll clothes for Christmas one year, which I thought was the most fantastic gift I could imagine. Many years later, she told me that Christmas was particularly tight financially and she had made those doll clothes from some scrap fabric.

I also remember, circa 1973, her Mod Podging photos of us kids on a cute little wooden purse she carried. I remember the year because my mind is a steel trap. Sometimes the steel is a little rusty and I forget that I put all the towels in the washer and everyone has to drip dry from their baths, but that's not the point of this post.

The point is that Mom brought over some adorable handmade bookmarks for the kids a few days ago. She used tiny photos she had printed to personalize them, and with a little glue and some magnets, a darling idea was born!

Isn't she clever?

The paper has the stiffness of a file folder. Cutting up an old greeting card (on the fold) would do the trick or using a grosgrain ribbon, stitched across the fold to allow it to lie flat, would add a punch of color.

This DIY is linked at A Soft Place to Land.

Great idea! We save all of the advertising magnets we get in the mail, so we can use them for projects just like this.

FANTASTIC! Your mom is a clever lady. This will be just the thing for my dh who is a big reader and always bends the corner of the page to mark his place-drives me nuts :D
Thanks!!

This is a great idea, and we have a bunch of those teeny mini-wallet sized school photos leftover. I'm going to make these with my son for Daddy and then for both Grandmas.

Found you through WFMW--thanks for sharing!

Thank you! I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what to get DH for Father's Day from the kids. We've got two girls, so this will be perfect - one on each side. :)

Great idea. I love turning photos into something useful.

I'm behind on Father's Day. I amy have to order some gift cards through your link. One of us should benefit, right?

I need to get my brain in gear. My brain is like a steel trap, permanently rusted shut, nothing goes in and nothing comes out anymore. It's sad really.

Blessings,
Kimberly

Oh yes oh yes, I surely remember wooden purse and I never forget. funny I told my husband about it and he didn't know there is other way to creative homemaking crafts. That's how I am doing teaching my oldest stepdaughter Ashley and grandson Adrian how do make stone for father day. They did good job and the stone turn out looks good but one was accident cause the stone got some crack it and I told her don't worry as I will put some special glue to make stay together forever. I had great time work w/ them and soon I am getting some more different crafts for grandson Adrian as he need do something where he could be able learning more from Mema (he calling me ha).

Thanks Connie for being reminding me about the little wooden purse w/ several pictures on it.

Love you,
Shellie
