A Smockity Update

Stumble Upon Toolbar

  1. 1. I'm sewing like crazy to get the Easter dresses ready for Easter.
  2. 2. I'm on #5 of 6.
  3. 3. I tried to load photos of a sneak peek of the dresses, but my computer refused to cooperate.
  4. 4. We leave Friday to check into the hotel where the kids participate in the Bible Bowl and Chorus competition.
  5. 5. That means the Easter dresses must be done before Friday.
  6. 6. And the Easter grass/eggs/candy/baskets must also be purchased/stuffed/arranged before Friday.
  7. 7. Which reminds me that I need to arrange to board the dogs before Friday, also.
  8. 8. Did you know that if you host a Bible study and sandwich supper at your house every Sunday evening, that means you must clean house and have food at the ready?
  9. 9. Every Sunday?
  10. 10. Anyone have an extra day of the week layin' around I could borrow?

I just realized the same thing about hosting Game Night every Saturday. Oops! Stop painting the family room and wash up...guests will be here in 20 minutes!

Hey, I was wondering if you knew how to make powdered starch or if there might be any good websites to look on? We would really like to use it for prepping our puppet background this week. Thanks. Good luck on those dresses this week. I can't wait to see pictures!

Wow! Isn't is something how those busy times sneak up on you all of a sudden?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I've been wondering.... how do you make different sized dresses from the same pattern? Do you start from the largest and trim down? What if you want to use the pattern again?

Mmmmm! I have had a week like that--I needed at least one, if not more, days last week to accomplish what I needed to. The surprising thing was that some of the things that didn't get done didn't matter after all!

Linz,
I'm not even sure what powdered starch is, so I'm going to have to say I HAVE NO IDEA. Sorry.

Amy,
Since I am a cheapskate, I never cut the pattern, so I can use it for multiple sizes again and again.

I fold and crimp the pattern just so, and place my scissors underneath to follow the lines the best I can.

Your craftsmanship and eye to detail just keeps getting better and better. Looking at your finished projects always make me smile!

One thing about us having friends over is that our house does get straightened up (and sometimes cleaned!). I wonder what condition our home would be in if we never had anyone over.

I have not been on your blog in a long time.....I love the new look!

Good luck with everything. I hate it when 20 projects come all at once. :-(

I completely know the feeling. We too are doing bible bowl this weekend at LTC and have a 6 hour drive to the hotel. Thanks for reminding me about the dogs, almost forgot. Blessings, Suzie E.

No, we are doing LTC in AR. I love your idea about never cutting the pattern. I will use that definately in the future. Blessings to you all and safe travels this weekend, Suzie E.
