Book Give Away

Stumble Upon Toolbar

I was recently discussing "must read" books with a friend and she mentioned The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace.

She described this book as a must read, but she warned me that I might be tempted to throw it across the room a time or two.

Of course, I was intrigued, so I went straight home and ordered it.

We also talked about Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas, and she recommended it as well, and I ordered it, too.

So today, when I saw two packages in my mailbox, I assumed both books had arrived at the same time. I was surprised to see, though, that there were two identical copies of Sacred Marriage.

I checked my Paypal account and I had only been charged for one, so I composed a quick email explaining that there must have been a mistake and offering to send one back.

A "customer care coordinator" emailed me back and expressed great appreciation for my honesty. They had actually been searching high and low for that particular book (their last copy) that was meant for another customer, but they had finally ordered another one from a retailer when it couldn't be found.

She said that maybe the extra book "belongs with you. Maybe you know of someone who would benefit from a copy of their own or you know of a church or other organization that would put it to great use."

So, I thought I would give it away here on the blog.

If you would like a brand new copy of Sacred Marriage, leave a comment and I will choose someone to receive it.

Free stuff is what "Works For Me" this week. Check out Rocks In My Dryer to see what works for everyone else.

I am on my second reading of The Excellent Wife. Fantastic book and one I wish I had read much sooner in my marriage. We are now doing it as a study with several other women.

Sacred Marriage is one I am planning on reading. I would love to be included in the opportunity to win it!

I completely understand the urge to throw such a book across the room - I felt that way several times reading Love & Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. After sticking with it, it turned out to be one of the best books I've read!

I would love to be entered for this one as well! :) What a great idea to do a giveaway with your extra! :)

2 weeks ago, I had asked my husband of 2o years to leave out of pure spiritual exhaustion and selfishness. We have 8 children and I just in my flesh thought God couldn't do what His word reveals he will-sustains His own. My husband did not leave and we are trying to work on this through God's word, but I am struggling...I have a copy of the Excellent Wife, but it seems my heart is too burdened at times to even pick up..If you think it is helpful on getting women on the path to righteousness on not self pity, i would love to be considered to receive your extra copy

I have read The Excellent Wife and it was very good. It was a very "meaty" study, which I like.

Don't put me in the running because I already own a copy, but we went through it last year and I highly recommend it! What a blessing you have an extra copy to give someone who will surely be affected by it.

I am overseas, but could get it mailed to my friend in the States. This is just the short of thing I am completely unable to get my hands on here, and that I could use a fresh dose of now.
